This module combines essential digital competencies with key approaches and skills for success in higher education. Students will learn to navigate and interact with the digital tools provided by the university, including its online library, virtual learning environment and productivity suite, while developing their time management, note-taking, and academic research capabilities. Students are thus encouraged to take advantage of the opportunities for lifelong education available to them, in line with Goal 4 of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Students will meet weekly for either lectures, computer lab based classes, or directed group work. The key concepts and ideas of the module regarding study skills and strategies for success in higher education will be presented and discussed and the students will be asked contribute to group discussions and to create and submit documents detailing their response to and implementation of these ideas and strategies. Computer lab classes will be used to ensure students have the necessary digital skills to create and share these documents, to produce them to a sufficient standard, and to access the required online supports and resources. Presenting and discussing their own work allows for students to apply their digital skills, develop their presentation skills, and learn from each other in a supportive and non-competitive manner.
