Strategic Revenue Management and Distribution

Hospitality organisations face important decisions regarding what to sell, when to sell, to whom to sell, and for how much. The discipline of revenue management represents a core activity for managing capacity, revenue and profitability growth within hospitality organisations. It combines data analysis with strategy and an understanding of customer behaviour aligned to effective distribution. Revenue management provides an approach for management to guide effective decision making to maximise the return on investment for the hospitality business.

 

This module aims to develop student’s strategic revenue management skills and competencies in a variety of different contexts.

  • The fundamentals of operational controls to include the organisational resources necessary for the smooth and successful running of a hospitality operation.

 

The module will be delivered through lectures seminars and workshop based tutorials. The module will feature the participation of key guest speakers from the revenue management and distribution domains where they will provide context for students to explore theoretical issues in a practical format. Software will also feature in this module aligned to the theoretical propositions explored and will allow students to develop revenue management skills and competencies through practical application in a simulated environment.
