Module Overview

Survey and Analysis Report

This final year survey and analysis module is designed to enable students to demonstrate that they have acquired the full range of skills and knowledge necessary to prepare a baseline report to inform the preparation of a statutory planning policy document. The project requires the student to research and analyse a particular theme or issue in a given study area. The project requires students to utilise their research and analysis skills to self- direct their work. Students are also required to work collaboratively with the project team to synthesise the themes for presentation in a final report.

A review of the relevant planning policy documents from national and regional level guidelines to

county / city level plans and strategies

· Identifying up to date information sources including, mapping, census and employment statistics,

housing figures and transport data.

· Developing appropriate methodologies and research strategies to examine identified key themes or

‘influences’ within a study area (and executing these methodologies and strategies).

· Producing and analysing the results of the research into the individual themes

· Applying these findings to a group baseline report.

The syllabus covers the following:
