Module Overview

Management & Organisational Behaviour

Organisational Behaviour (OB) is an area of study that investigates the impact that individuals, groups, and structure have on behaviour within organizations for the purpose of applying such knowledge toward improving an organization’s effectiveness. This module introduces students to the core principles of organisation behaviour and familiarise themselves with the major themes in the area.

Introduction to Management:

History of management theory and the role of the manager.

 

The Environmental context of Management:

The organisation and its environment.

 

The Planning and Decision making Process:

The planning and decision making process.

 

The Leading Process:

Teams in organisations. Employee motivation and leadership. Conflict and conflict resolution in organisations.

 

The Organising Process:

The Controlling Process:

Types of control. Managing control in organisations.. Managing information

The learning and teaching strategies will include a combination of lectures, seminars and case studies. Students will be required to engage in independent learning in relation to the learning issues emerging from the course work and assessment
