A legal knowledge is essential in any business environment with the increasing
opportunities and threats posed by liberalisation, deregulation, cross-border trade
and new social and tortuous legislation. This course will give students a
grounding in the basic concepts of law and some of the particular elements
relevant to international business. The module aims to give participants a grounding
in the legal systems of Ireland and the EU, the sources of law and the individual principles governing
various areas of law, to include: employment law, contract law, intellectual property law, information technology law, tort law, company law
and EU law. The course should give students the ability to identify legal
problems and give a preliminary analysis of the issues and possible remedies.
