Module Overview

Global Corporate Citizenship

The aim of this module is to provide the course participant with a knowledge and understanding of both operational and atrategic issues in relation to Global Corporate Citizenship (GCC). In addition, to develop the course participant's critical thinking ability, critical self reflection and synthesizing skills in order to effectively formulate, implement Global Corporate Citizenshop strategies and develop a GCC audit framework for assessing the dimentions and approach identified in practice.

Introduction and Overview

Defining Global Corporate Citizenship (GCC), the components of GCC, stakeholder management, the stages of GCC and its implications for strategic intent, stakeholder relationships, leadership, structure and Issues Management.

Key theories underpinning Global Corporate Citizenship

Two key theories: institutional theory of the firm and stakeholder theories

Evaluation of GCC Initiatives

Actions to promote workforce diversity; actions to enhance employee well being; actions to protect or enhance the environment; the degree to which the company tries to employ an ethical strategy; actions to better the quality of life of the community; the role of the Government in regulating socially responsible behaviour.

Global Corporate Citizenship Reporting and Evaluation

Assessing GCC: global social and environmental audit standards, the audit process, social and environmental reporting (the triple bottom line), collaborative partnerships for global problem solving.

Formulation and implementation of a Global Corporate Citizenship (GCC) audit framework and the formulation of a GCC strategy.

The formulation of a GCC Audit Framework and the implementation issues in relation to an Audit Framework and the key components of a GCC strategy, the associated implementation issues.

Presentations, reflective practice and all relevant materials will be provided by the lecturer during face to face lectures, and using the relevant learning management system.
