The aim of this module is to continue consolidation of the student’s knowledge of relevant vocabulary and structures in German to comprehend, communicate and interact with increasing ease and accuracy in a range of everyday scenarios in German and to increase familiarity with socio-cultural, professional and educational environments of Germany and German speaking countries. The module is benchmarked at B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference.
Speaking & Listening skills
Focus on consolidation of spoken & communicative skills and aural comprehension skills in German
Reading & Writing Skills
Focus on consolidation of comprehension of written texts, and production of written text on topics of a socio-cultural and professional nature
Mediation
Focus on consolidating the student's skills in writing, translating into and out of German with appropriate attention to context and register
Teaching & Learning takes place through communicative language classes where students practise, develop and demonstrate development in all skill areas: reading, listening, speaking & writing. Individual and group activities, use of varied and authentic media, resources in VLE and both self-directed and lecturer-directed activities within and outside of classroom.
