The aim of this module is to further develop and consolidate all four language skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking) in an integrated manner and to provide the student with extended grammatical structures and vocabulary to comprehend and communicate in German. It aims to help students understand the socio-cultural and professional environment of Germany and German-speaking countries, cognisant of the UN Sustainability Goals. It is benchmarked at Level A2.2 on CEFR (Common European framework of Reference).
Reading & Writing
Reception & production of variety of texts showing awareness of register, domain, context etc.; Texts of relevance in sociocultural, educational, work contexts.
Speaking & Listening
Communciative skills in German: speaking, conversation, identifying/providing information, following meaning, responding to cues.

Teaching & Learning takes place through communicative language classes where students practise, develop and demonstrate development in all skill areas: reading, listening, speaking & writing. Individual and group activities, use of varied and authentic media, resources in VLE and both self-directed and lecturer-directed activities within and outside of classroom.
