This module is designed for students who have no previous knowledge of the language. The aim of this module is to develop all four language skills in an integrated manner - reading, writing, listening and speaking. It aims to develop students' grammatical awareness, to introduce relevant vocabulary to comprehend and communicate in German, and to help students understnad socio-cultural (and preofessional) environments in Germany and the German-speaking countries, always congnisant of the UN Stustainability Goals. It is benchmarked at Level A1.1 on the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR).

Teaching and Learning takes place through communicative language classes where students practise, develop and demonstrate development in all skill areas: reading, listening, speaking and writing. Individual and group activities, use of varied and authentic media, resources in VLE and both self-directed and lecturer-directed activities within and outside of classroom.
