This module will introduce the student to the core concepts of laboratory leadership and change management to enable them to apply this knowledge in the modern day clinical laboratory. Students will be introduced to leadership and communication styles, personnel management, and change management processes. Students will also develop an awareness of the ethical and legal responsibilities of the laboratory manager.

The structure of the clinical laboratory and the position of the clinical laboratory within the healthcare structure.
Financial structures.
This module addresses aspects of UN SDG 3, specifically aspects of 3.8, SDG6, specifically 6.3 and SDG 12, specifically 12.4.
This module will be delivered using a blended approach, whereby the content will be delivered both face-to-face and in an online/distance format, using Brightspace as the core virtual learning package. The face-to-face contact will be in the form of induction session, lectures and workshops. Online teaching and learning activities will include: on-line resources, video presentations, process analysis and management. The content will be delivered as discreet learning packages with prescribed workshops and reading material alongside student directed learning.
Feedback is provided via Brightspace on an individual basis after each assessment.
