The 13th AFIS (Association of Franco-Irish Studies) conference was held in the Université de Lille on the 24-24 May 2019.

The 13th AFIS (Association of Franco-Irish Studies) conference was held in the Université de Lille on the 24-24 May and was a huge success, with over 60 delegates in attendance and stimulating papers on the theme of Margins and Marginalities in France and Ireland. The keynote speakers were Professor Pillar Villar-Argáiz (University of Granada), Professor Michael Cronin (Trinity College) and Dr Máirtín Mac Con Iomaire (TU Dublin). There were also revealing interviews with Tony Flannery about his censuring by Rome and Mr David Torrans of No Alibis Bookshop in Belfast. In addition, the proceedings of the 2017 conference, Patrimoine/Cultural Heritage in France and Ireland, edited by Eamon Maher and Eugene O’Brien, was launched by Michael Cronin.
