The Department of Marketing and Business Computing is a leading provider of courses in Marketing Management, Advertising and Marketing Communications, and Digital Marketing, offering courses at Higher Certificate, Ordinary Degree and Honours Degree level.

It also offers a Higher Diploma in Business in Marketing, as well as a BSc in Data Analytics with Digital Marketing, and research Masters. BRAND NEW for this year, the Department will offer a new Level 7 Bachelor of Arts (Ordinary Degree) in Digital Marketing, which is particularly relevant to the needs of Ireland’s fast-expanding technology sector, where ICT employers are growing their business operations.

The Department plans to continue to develop its links with this sector across all programmes of study, as well as Irish and global business enterprise to create industry-ready, career-focussed graduates that are highly-skilled in the needs of the modern digital enterprise.

A graduate of marketing at ITT himself, Glenn has written text books and is an active researcher and digital marketing consultant with unrivalled links to industry, community and non-profit organisations around Dublin, Ireland and the world, and is leading a digital transformation agenda.

Leaving Certificate with at least 2 H5’s in two Higher Level subjects, and a minimum of Grade O6 (Ordinary Level) in 4 other subjects in the Leaving Certificate Examination, which must include Mathematics and English or Irish.  Foundation level Maths (F2) is acceptable for this course.

This is due to the practical nature of the course - graduates are work ready. Follow in the footsteps of previous graduates and work for the likes of Irish International, Publicis, PHD, Refresh, Starcom, Kinetic and Brandfire.

You could be part of the team that creates and implements effective advertising campaigns for public and private sector organisations. You will be capable of analysing the wealth of data that are generated through internet and social media usage and devise online marketing campaigns. You might want to organise major sporting, musical and cultural events. You might want to apply for a Masters Degree sometime in the future.

Year one
You will become acquainted with experts from Advertising, Event Management and PR,  and you will be introduced to the fundamentals of Marketing and Digital Marketing with Social Media.

You will begin with the fundamentals of analysing media, and explore the mind of the consumer in Behavioural Studies.   You will begin working in teams, make presentations and write effectively. By the end of year 1 you will be on the road to becoming a Marketing and Advertising professional.

Year two
You will aquire skills in design such as Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.  This will enable you to create effective promotional material. You will learn about the dynamic media industry and your Marketing expertise will be developed further.  You will learn how to analyse data for use in targeted marketing campaigns, a vital skill in today’s digital economy.

Year three 
Programme content will give you an in-depth understanding of key issues pertinent to the practitioner.  Working in a team, you will plan and stage a fundraising event for charity.  

You will learn how to build a website and link it to various social media for advertising and marketing communications campaigns. You will gain hands-on experience in Radio and Video Design and Production in our state of the art Advertising studio..

The industry project sponsored by leading global out of home Advertising agency, Kinetic Dublin will give students the opportunity to work on a real campaign. 

You might also want to avail of the optional opportunity to study in the Netherlands, France, Austria or Canada for one semester under the Erasmus +  programme.

Marketing at IT TallaghtYear four - award year for the BA (Hons) in Advertising and Marketing Communications
Your final year culminates in the Advertising Portfolio module. You will work in a team and take a brief from a client organisation. Working in the AdLab which is equipped with industry-standard equipment, you will create a fully integrated campaign and present your solutions to the client and a panel of lecturers. This module provides you with excellent networking opportunities and you will have a portfolio of work to show potential employers. Previous clients include Concern Worldwide, An Taisce, Club Orange, DSPCA, MS Society and Fit4Less, Vodafone, McVitie’s Jaffa Cakes, Dublin Community Games, South Dublin Chamber of Commerce.   In January of your final year, you have the option of engaging in work experience with agencies such as Mixtape Marketing, TBWA, Owens DDB, Chemistry, Kinetic, Dynamic Events and OMD.
