Academic Integrity Statement

Key messages for students:

  1. If you are due to repeat exam that is not on the Timetables, please contact your school office / lecturer to find out how this exam is being assessed.
  2. Formal examinations in exam halls will not take place in May. However, all students will have some  assessment and such assessments will be completed remotely and submitted electronically.
  3. Each lecturer will to decide how best to assess their modules. These are likely to be remote assessments that will require students to complete an online assessment or to submit a specified piece of coursework via Moodle or email. Your lecturers will notify you on the arrangements for their individual modules.
  4. For this semester, all assessments are to be completed by May 18th 2021. In the interest of fairness to all students, this must be a solid deadline with no exceptions i.e. late submissions will not be accepted and may be treated as NP (not present - as if you did not attend for a formal exam) for examination boards.
  5. In general, module deadlines will be spread over the period May 10th to 18th (there may be some exceptions).  Exact deadlines for each module will be decided by, and communicated to you, by your lecturers using your TU Dublin email address. Be sure to look out for and take heed of any messaging from the University.
  6. Where a student cannot complete an assessment for valid reasons, they can apply to defer exams in the normal way. Applications can be made using the forms available online (examdeferral). The deadline for deferral applications is 20th May 2021.
  7. Students requiring assistance with Moodle should contact learning support (Celt.Tallaght@TUDublin.ie).
  8. Student progression in their programme will be based as usual on the successful completion of both winter and spring semester modules (i.e. pass all modules and have a GPA > 2.0).
  9. Examination Appeals: Release of Tallaght examination results TBC with appeals/reviews to occur within 5 working days (exam appeal form).
  10. Students with a fail grade or a deferral will be required to pass exams/assessment at the next available oppertunity. You cannot progress into the following year if you have a Fail/deferral. We need to assume that invigilated August exams may not be possible. If not, some form of online / remote assessment will be used as described above.
    1. It is the responsibility of all students requiring supplemental examinations to register online for those exams in July. Failure to register means you will not be assessed in August, and thereby prevented from progressing, or graduating if in the final year of a program.

I realise that these are unusual times for students and staff alike. Be assured that every reasonable effort is being made to enable students complete their 2020/21 studies in a reasonable manner.
