Helping Students To Realise Their Full Potential
TU Dublin - Tallaght Campus offers a collection of Applied Biology programmes leading nationally and internationally recognised qualifications for those wishing to pursue careers in industry (including biotechnology, pharmaceutical, healthcare, and food industries), State laboratories, research and development or in the areas of business and marketing.

The Applied Biology courses at TU Dublin - Tallaght Campus have gained a high reputation in Ireland and beyond. The campus staff are committed to providing the best possible science education and training and to sharing their enthusiasm for their areas of interest with you.

The major emphasis in our Applied Biology programmes can be divided into two streams (i) Bioanalytical Sciences and (ii) Biopharmaceutical Sciences.

Bioanalytical Sciences cover the full range of modern biological skills and knowledge needed to solve problems in the areas of biochemistry, microbiology, molecular biology, cellular biology and bioanalysis. We approach this in an integrated multi-disciplinary manner to ensure that our graduates have both a breadth and depth of skills needed in industry, R&D, etc. This approach helps to ensure that our graduates have a wide range of possible career paths open to them, enables them to have mobility and flexibility within and between different employment sectors. Such flexibility and mobility are highly valued traits in the modern workplace.

Biopharmaceutical Science is that branch of the pharmaceuticals industry involved in the production of biological and biotechnological medicinal and healthcare products (e.g. insulin, growth factors, enzymes, etc.). It is one of the fastest growing sectors of the Irsih economy and one one offering tremndous career possiblities for well qualified and committed graduates. TU Dublin - Tallaght Campus works closely with the industry to ensure that our courses are relevant to the immdeiate and longer term needs of the industry.

Our approach to taching and learning
Small class sizes and significant tutorial support systems are critical features of our approach. Significant efforts are made to help ensure that students can successfully make the transition from second level to third level education. A major emphasis in all of our science courses is hands-on practical training (learning by doing) ensuring that students develop the technical and knowledge skills necessary to work competently and effectively in industry and other laboratory environments.
