TU Dublin - Tallaght Campus Computing courses have been successful from their first days providing graduates with an ability ‘to hit the ground running’ and ‘real hands-on skills’. The determination by the Department of Computing to provide the skills, knowledge and attributes in demand by industry has always been part of the TU Dublin - Tallaght Campus Computing story – look now and find degrees that are current in delivering hands-on experience of up to data technologies while not neglecting long term Computer Science/ Operations knowledge. All this is achieved through ongoing dialog with local partners such as SAP, Amazon, IBM and Microsoft.

In our Computing degrees Cybersecurity, Web development, IT infrastructure, Cloud, Algorithms and Automation are treated as essential to all streams.

In the software stream (CAO CODE TA322) advanced algorithms and computation theory is delivery by industry experienced lecturers with a level of support which allows the most complex ideas to be grasped and mastered. (

In the IT Management stream (CAO CODE TA322)  students go deep in the knowledge that helps them manage complex public and private cloud based technologies. Management Science, IT Scripting & Automation, DevOps , Cloud & Virtualisation Technologies are all part of the current skills mix. ( )

The new Data Analytics Stream (CAO code - TA329) contains essentials such as Data Analysis, Business Intelligence & Reporting as well as Artificial Intelligence/ Machine Learning/ Big Data for Data Analytics. Graduates of this programme have both the technical skills to source, combine and visualise data in new ways different sources and the statistical underpinnings to make sound decisions and predictions based on data. (

And don’t forget for those who want to learn/ keep us a language we have Computing with French/ German/ Spanish (CAO code - TA328). (

All Department of Computing programmes have the option of national or international placements. With over 70 students being placed in industry for 6 months each year there are too many placements to list but some placement partners in the past few years include SAP Citywest, Openet, Ergo, IBM, Microsoft, Salesforce as well as other areas such as Tallaght Hospital, South Dublin County Council, Department of Social Protection, Bank of Ireland.

 Success can be measured in many ways – in excellent graduate employment in industry-  in leading ICT companies with roles as software developers, IT infrastructure Engineers, Systems and Database Administrators, Business Intelligence, Project Managers, and Consultants – also in looking at career development where we see our graduates in leading positions as CTOs, CIOs, Architects, Senior Managers, Entrepreneurs, Start-Up founders. Remember also we allow a Choice at the end of year 1 – our flexible approach is based on our experience that students often only discover or confirm their true strengths and interests having experienced the range of computing. We have bundled together essential commons skills into year 1 to allow you make your choice of specialisation again at the end of year 1.
