Technical and General Queries
Do I need to have experience at this kind of thing?
No! In fact sometimes it’s an advantage not to because you may take a different approach and just might find you have a talent for this kind of thing! You don’t need fancy cameras, lights or a production team all you need is to be yourself, have some fun and if you’re lucky think of a cool original idea. Some of the most successful videos on the internet have been the most simple ones with a different approach. We’ve all seen them. Be quirky, be funny, be creative and above all, be yourself and have fun. You can even sing it if you want to or get a group and do it together!
I’m interested in entering. What are the next steps?
Confirm your entry by emailing Gareth at gradassociation@ittdublin.ie to say you’re interested. We will be accepting entries in 2009. We will then send you a form (nothing mad) which you need to fill out and send back to us. Then you go and make your video clip and come back to us with the Youtube link to your video and the video file before the closing date which is Friday the 6th of March 2009. The winners will be announced at a date to be confirmed in March.
I'm a part-time student - am I eligible?
Yes - all full-time, part-time and postgrad students are welcome to enter.
What will I use to record?
You can use anything you want as long as the quality is OK and you can upload it to Youtube. This would include phones, webcams, handheld video cameras or whatever you can get your hands on.
How long should it be?
No longer than 90 seconds.
So what will I talk about?
Everyone has different things they like about ITT Dublin. Maybe you love your course and the subjects you cover - talk about that. Maybe you enjoy your lecturers and how approachable they are (not all colleges are like that) - talk about that. Maybe your highlight is the social side of college life or the club or society you are a part of - talk about that. Maybe it's the people you've met while you were here, or the small class sizes or the fact you get to do continuous assessments and semesters rather than big end-of-year exams. Whatever makes you tick about ITT Dublin - talk about it and imagine what you might want to hear if you were in school and browsing around the ITT Dublin website wondering if you should come here. Keep it clean please :)

We don’t need actors. It doesn’t need to look professional and it’s OK if you don’t remember what you say perfectly. Just be genuine and have some craic while you’re doing it. If you want we can record it in the Institute. No big cameras or lights, just one person with a handheld camera. No pressure, we promise. And very little time out of your day.
