CMHI Strategy

The strategic vision for CMHI is to understand better host-pathogen interactions in order to develop vaccines and / or novel immunotherapies to fight these infections. Our current investigations have been built on a strong track record of over 30 peer reviewed publications in the area. They are focussed on the Cystic fibrosis (CF) pathogens, B. cepacia complex and their interactions with lung cells. However, we also evaluate the interactions of other lung pathogens and will in the future examine

pathogens that attack other mucosal surfaces, including intestinal pathogens. In addition, by obtaining sufficient funding to maintain a core group of researchers we will educate and train MSc and PhD students in order that they may make a significant contribution as professionals in the science based economy. The centre aims to  continue to generate relevant research that impacts directly on patient care.
