REAP

ITT Dublin is committed to two projects that will support workforce development. The ‘Roadmap for Employment - Academic Partnerships (REAP)’ and the Sectoral Flexible Learning Project are both funded under the strategic Innovation fund (SIF2). Over the lifecycle of these projects ITT Dublin will enhance and develop partnerships with employers and provide more flexible blended opportunities for individuals to pursue their lifelong journey in a way that best suits their life, work and family commitments.

Roadmap for Employment - Academic Partnerships (REAP)

Higher Education Institutions and employers should strive for mature, long term partnerships that can meet and exceed current needs and anticipate future needs.

The National Development Plan (NDP) 2007-2013, under Human Capital, identified one of two key areas for action in labour force development as:

“Ensuring the development of a high skilled, adaptable workforce through continued emphasis on lifelong learning and training of those in employment.”

This action can best be achieved by coherent, consistent and well developed tripartite relationships between Learners, Employers and Higher Education Institutions.

REAP is a collaborative project, involving eight Higher Education Institutional partners, for the research, development and validation of a Higher Education /Employment Partnership Model and Roadmap. It will identify learning needs within workplaces, draw up a comprehensive plan for partnership between employers and HEI’s.

As part of this project ITT Dublin will, in partnership with learners and employers:

  • Identify training needs now and into the future
  • Collaboratively develop specialist course to meet identified needs
  • Identify and implement good models of partnership
  • Foster closer relationships through academic staff/student and employer/exchanges
  • Develop structures to allow those in work to pursue advanced postgraduate research degrees through work based research
