Project title: Contamination control - inorganic and metal species in environmental water samples

Researchers: David Ward, Ayman Saeed, Santhosh Padmanabhan

Objective: Current environmental activity in the group examines the ability of catalytic materials to sense inorganic species and metal ions while a selective electronic microbiological assay methodology for bacteria detection in water focuses on Staphlococcus aureus, E. Coli, Pseudomonas and Bacillus species, having important implications for water quality (see MICROPRINT for further information). Prior projects in this area have included microchip capillary electrophoresis for separation and quantitation of endocrine disruptors/oestrogen mimics.
