Environmental Monitoring

 

Project title: Contamination control - inorganic and metal species in environmental water samples

Researchers: David Ward, Ayman Saeed, Santhosh Padmanabhan

Objective: Current environmental activity in the group examines the ability of catalytic materials to sense inorganic species and metal ions while a selective electronic microbiological assay methodology for bacteria detection in water focuses on Staphlococcus aureus, E. Coli, Pseudomonas and Bacillus species, having important implications for water quality (see http://www.micra.ie MICROPRINT for further information). Prior projects in this area have included microchip capillary electrophoresis for separation and quantitation of endocrine disruptors/oestrogen mimics.
