STUDENT AMBASSADOR PROGRAMME
Minister of Education Jan O’Sullivan T. D. attended the Education in Ireland International Student Ambassador Awards Ceremony 2014-2015
ITT DUBLIN’S STUDENT AMBASSADORS
Enterprise Ireland manages the Education in Ireland national brand under the authority of the Minister for Education and Skills. Education in Ireland introduced The Student Ambassador programme to raise awareness of the quality of Irish education, and assist and encourage interested students from overseas to find the right college or university in Ireland.
The Ambassadors share their experiences about studying and living in Ireland through blogs, social medial, and film. The Ambassadors also receive high-level training on how best to harness effective online communication skills and at the end of the Academic year receive a completion certificate from Education in Ireland to thank them for their valued contribution to promoting Irish Higher Education. http://blog.educationinireland.com/
The honour of becoming a student Ambassador has great benefits for the student also; their work will be widely circulated nationally and internationally. They will be awarded a “Certificate of Participation” at a high level national award ceremony, and Education in Ireland will be happy to endorse them on LinkedIn and other sites, offer references and work with them as alumni in the future. They also get the opportunity to make new friends with other Student Ambassadors from all over the world and this can only add to their experience of studying in Ireland.
Each year IT Tallaght encourages all our international students to apply for this prestigious role and we carry out a rigorous selection process in order to find the best international students to represent us as our Student Ambassador.
This year was no exception to the high level of applicants we received , we were looking for enthusiastic, creative, articulate and confident students, to represent us and we were delighted to be able to appoint 2 Student Ambassadors who met this criteria and were worthy of the honour to represent IT Tallaght.
Our 2 student Ambassadors this year come from China and from Canada. From China we have chosen Baoxin Lin from NJTech, Nanjing, China and from Canada Jacob Petel who is a student from St. Lawrence College, Ontario. Baoxin Lin is a student of Electronic Engineering and Jacob Petel is studying Energy Systems Engineering.
We wish our 2 new Student Ambassadors every success in their new role and we hope they remember fondly their time as the Student Ambassadors for IT Tallaght when they return to their home countries.
