Role Overview
The School of Sciences is seeking to appoint a  Chemistry Technician on a  2 year contract basis to back fill for an existing staff member  who has taken on a new role. Technical support is required to service undergraduate teaching laboratories and also to provide instrumentation support in analytical and spectroscopic chemistry.

Assistant Lecturer in Sports Science &Health – Permanent  Wholetime Post
The Institute delivers a very successful programme in the area of Sports Science and Health. The aim of the course is to educate students in the scientific foundations of sport performance and lifelong health. Graduates from the course would be expected to have expertise in areas including exercise physiology, sports medicine and biomechanics, behavioral science and research methods.

Assistant Lecturer in Electronic Engineering – Contract  Post

Arising from a staff member going on career break the Institute  seeks to appoint  a person to backfill for them  and to deliver lectures in a variety of modules to students . An in-depth knowledge of the following areas would be preferable:

  • Electronic and Electrical Control Systems
  • Renewable Energy System Design and Management
  • Renewable Energy Economics
  • Computer Programming

Information Systems Officer – Grade 6     
Closing date – 12:00 on 7th July  2017

Reporting into the SIS Manager, the Grade VI Officer position will be responsible for extracting and analysing data and reporting on same.  The post holder will be a key person in supporting the implementation and operation of the Student Information System. 
The aim of the role is the extraction and analysis of data to prepare effective management reports, and support the Institute in meeting its statutory and legislative requirements in respect of Institutional reporting to HEA and other bodies.  

Science Technician  – Microbiology / Biopharmaceutical  - Contract Post
Closing Date: 12:00 on 7th July 2017

The Technician will report to the Head of Department of Science or his nominee, and will be required to work closely with students, management, academic, technical and other staff.

Essential competences, skills, knowledge, qualifications and experience.

  • Relevant Ordinary Degree (Level 7) and at least one year’s postgraduate  experience. 
  • Ability to take initiative, give leadership and work with people.
  • Good organisational, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good knowledge of Health and Safety legislation.
  • Evidence of personal development through further skills development
  • Good technical knowledge in designated area.

Sessional Counsellor –     Closing date – 12:00 on  7th July  2017
Reporting to the Institute Student Counsellor, the Sessional Counsellor will be working on their own, and so the requirement is  for someone  very competent in therapeutic skills and assessment with proficiency in delivering short-term therapy.
