Where and when do the Graduation Ceremonies normally take place?
The graduation ceremonies take place in The Victory Centre, Firhouse Road. They are held on a Wednesday and Thursday, usually in early November of each year. The exact dates can be found in the student handbook or in the academic calendar. Both are available on the main website.
How and when am I notified about the event?
All students will be notified officially by post approximately one to two weeks prior to the event. A notice will also be placed on the Institute’s website outlining the exact schedule. Each student is assigned a designated number and this information will be posted on the main website the weekend prior to the ceremonies.
How do I inform you of my attendance/non attendance?
Students are requested to fill in the Graduation Registration Form on the ITT Dublin website. It is imperative that you complete this form as it assists staff determining the exact number of students who will be attending.
Do I have to wear Academic Dress?
Yes. The regulations that govern this are laid down by HETAC. They are responsible for the colour of gowns, epitoges, hoods and caps to be worn.
Who provides the academic dress for the day?
Currently, Phelan Conan is the company who hire out gowns to students. You can order and pay for your gown in advance of the day by visiting www.phelanconan.com. Gowns can be collected from the Institute the day before the ceremony or alternatively from The Victory Centre on both days of the ceremonies.
Who are the official photographers?
Currently, Lafayette is the official photographers and they are located in the games room in the Victory Centre on both days of ceremonies www.lafayettephotography.com .
How many guests can I bring with me on the day?
All students are allowed to bring two guests with them.
What happens on the day?
You should arrive at the venue with plenty of time to spare especially if you are collecting your gown or having your photograph taken by Lafayette. You will be directed to your seat by a member of staff. It is imperative that you remain in the seat that is assigned to you. Each ceremony will only take a little over an hour so please be patient. On completion of each ceremony a reception takes place in the Centre where light refreshments are served.
Where do I return my gown?
Phelan Conan will set up in an area in the Centre for the return of all academic attire. It is important to note that it is the students’ responsibility to return this on the day of the conferring.
How do I receive my parchment if I don’t attend the ceremony?
Parchments are available for collection from the Registrar’s Office, room 120, for one week following the ceremonies. Parchments that have not been collected during this period will be sent to you by registered post.
Can I get a copy of my parchment if I happen to lose it?
In order to get a copy of a parchment you must complete the attached form (studentforms ). There is a charge for this service and currently this stands at €65. Please note that the work ‘Duplicate’ will appear on the parchment.
