About the Course
The European Studies Honours Bachelor of Arts Degree offers students an exciting and interesting range of modules which provide them with an understanding and appreciation of modern Europe and with the necessary skills to work in a wide variety of national, international and multinational organizations in Ireland and elsewhere in Europe. Specialising in one European language (French, German or Spanish), the course provides students with an indepth understanding of aspects of European history, politics, culture and business.

For year three of this four year course, you will spend two semesters on work placement or at one of our partner universities in Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Poland or Spain, improving your language skills and experiencing the culture and atmosphere of a foreign country as part of the European Erasmus academic exchange programme, funded by the European Commission.
Europe is part of Ireland’s success story. Travelling to Berlin, Paris, Barcelona, Munich, Madrid, or Brussels is a way of life for many Irish business people. It’s exciting and interesting, a fantastic experience. Competency in another European language equips you to enjoy the richness of other cultures and provides you with an added advantage in the jobs’ market. This is an opportunity not to be missed!

What do I Need?
Entry Requirements, Honours Bachelor Degree – European Studies
At least Grade C3 in two higher level papers and Grade D3 in four ordinary level papers in the Leaving Cert. The subjects must include either Irish or English.
No prior knowledge of a foreign language is required.
Recent minimum CAO points: 180
