The honours degree allows students to develop a deeper understanding of engineering principles and acquire the ability to quickly grasp engineering issues across a range of different fields. The graduate engineer will be able to offer solutions to problems that are driven by well-developed analytical and practical skills.
This programme aims to give graduates the opportunity to work as professional mechanical engineers and also to create opportunities for postgraduate study in research or taught mode. Other aims include:
- Providing students with knowledge and skills required to allow them to function in a team-based environment
- Enabling students to apply analytical skills to solve complex engineering problems
- Meeting the needs of industry for professional engineers
- Preparing graduates for working in medical device, pharmaceutical, automotive, food, high-volume manufacture, aeronautical and mechanical environments
- Providing students with opportunity to use standard computer-based tools to develop relevant engineering solutions to various real-life problems
