Students are provided with a focused and targeted programme of modules that are highly regarded by both students and the employers of our graduates in industry and professional firms of accountants.
The degree programme in Accounting & Finance is comprehensive and thorough in its academic approach and throughout the programme places an emphasis on the practical application of the module content.Students will develop key skills and competencies necessary to help them on their way to achieving their career objectives. They will also develop confidence and the technical knowledge to compete in today’s rapidly changing workplace environment, which is critical in the current global and economic context.
Students are encouraged and assisted to gain summer work experience and apply for employment internships with professional services firms and within industry.
This programme creates a grounding in core business subject’s i.e.
Financial Accounting - Business Administration - Law - Maths - Research Methods - Information Systems - Economics - Management Accounting - Communications - Personal Finance.
This gives the student with a broad understanding of these areas and it provides a basis for progression to ordinary degree level.

What do I Need?
Entry Requirements for the Higher Certificate:
At least Grade D3 (ordinary level) in five subjects in the Leaving Cert. The subjects must include either English or Irish. Ordinary level Mathematics (Grade D3) is also a requirement.

Points range of recent offers: 185-520
Recent points range for applicants choosing this course: 180 - 310
Some graduates from our honours degree programme have also chosen to follow a career in teaching at second level.
Students who gain the Higher Certificate Award may exit into the world of employment with this foundation qualification. Students may obtain junior positions in accounting/finance departments of a broad range of business sectors. The majority of students continue on to the Bachelor Degree programme to acquire a further level of knowledge, skills and competencies

Graduates of the Accounting programmes from ITT Dublin are entitled to significant exemptions from the professional exams of the recognised accounting bodies in Ireland including the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland (ACA), Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), the Institute of Certified Public Accountants (CPA) in Ireland, the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) and Irish Taxation Institute (ITI).
