This four year programme is aimed at giving you the skills and knowledge necessary to become a computer professional ready to work at the cutting edge of the computing industry. Typical roles obtained by graduates of this programme include systems developers, IT managers, database administrators, systems analysts and network engineers.
Salaries and careers prospects for computing graduates are excellent with most graduates reporting promotion within two years of taking up a position. A recent survey of ITT Dublin computing graduates shows the vast majority (>80%) of graduates of this programme obtained in the IT industry.
There is currently a shortage of graduates with computing skills and this situation is predicted to continue over the foreseeable future. Our graduates also use their computing qualification to obtain well paid and interesting employments as they travel the world (Computing graduates top the list of professionals sought by countries around the world). Of course a degree in computing is also good general education and those graduates who have chosen other careers (Garda, teacher, business) generally find that their analysis and problem solving skills allied to their knowledge of IT is a real advantage in whatever career path they follow.
The B. Sc. Honours in Computing provides and excellent qualification in the field of computing. At the end of the programme you will have excellent systems development skills in the latest technologies including web and mobile technologies. You will have excellent knowledge of information systems and databases, the raison d’etre of information technology. You will also have impressive and highly sought after knowledge of networking and communications.
The interactive media elements of the programme will develop your knowledge of topics from web design and usability to computer games design and development. Finally you will receive a substantial grounding in business concepts which help place information technology in its context in the modern world. Within the programme you will find opportunities to develop your particular interests and strengths by suggesting or selecting projects that interest you.
