First year opens the inner world of computing to students. Website design, code software, hardware, operating systems, communications, applications, security, computers and business, computers and leisure and all the background that students need to follow a career in this vital area that is so strongly linked to business and pleasure.
From Second Year on students produce quite exciting projects often tailored to a student’s personal interest. Students have produced web-based applications, network applications and computer games of a very high standard. Continues to amaze us!

E-mailing a photos. computer systems don’t just sit on a desktop with a keyboard, screen and mouse attached – they are everywhere. It’s not just the internet, behind every one of the screens one uses there is a computer system which retrieves information, analyses what is wanted, verifies identity and returns with the requested result.
By studying computing you are taking a decision to become an expert in a field which is re-shaping our world and how we experience it. Computing professionals are a critical element in the modern business world and the demand for computing graduates is strong and projected to remain strong into the future.

What do I Need?
Entry Requirements for the Higher Certificate in Science (Computing)
Grade D3 or higher in 5 subjects at Ordinary Level. The subjects must include either
English or Irish and Maths at Grade D3 or higher. (Grade C3 in Ordinary Level maths is
recommended but is not a requirement)
No previous, serious computing experience required
Students needn’t arrive as computer whiz-kids. They learn to become experts with us!
Recent minimum CAO points: 295
Points range of recent offers: 295-505
Career prospects are good. Computing related qualifications are on the wanted list among employers, with attractive salaries, conditions and progression opportunities on offer.
Typical starting positions include junior roles in IT Support, Network Support, Software Testing, New system deployment.
