Exemptions

In some circumstances, you may be eligible for exemptions based on your previous study, work or life experiences. When granted, an exemption means that you do not have to attend classes or sit examinations for a module - you simply secure the associated academic credit.

Important: An exemption from a module will only be granted when a student can demonstrate that they have acquired accredited or experiential learning for all the skills and knowledge described by the learning outcomes of the module.
The onus to apply for exemption and to demonstrate that learning outcomes have been met through prior learning rests solely with the student.

Please ensure you read the “Guide to Exemption Application” thoroughly before completing your application.

Students who are considering claiming an exemption will have the opportunity to attend an “exemption workshop"

This workshop will go through the process of claiming exemptions. Further information is available from the Part-time Student Information Desk

Further information on exemptions is available online at www.ittdublin.ie and also in the Institute Regulations Handbook.

Notes: The full fee will be charged for all modules regardless of exemptions. A separate exemption form must be completed for each module. No late applications will be processed.
