The Disability Officer provides support and services for the development and coordination of services and facilities for students with disabilities.
Assistance with admission procedures, accessibility; examination supports; guidance about navigating teaching and learning processes. This includes organising the provision of Note Takers; extra tuition; Interpreters; Scribes; and Academic Assistants; extra examination time; and assistive technology devices.
A key role of the Disability Officer is to liaise with Institute academic departments, individual lecturers, and other staff to ensure that the support needs of students with disabilities are met and to create awareness among staff and students of the range of supports available for students with a disability.
Students can advise the Disability Officer of any disabilities they have by completing a health questionnaire which is available from the office. Please call in to the office for further information. Room 010, Ground Floor.

The Learning Support Officer is available to a cohort of students registered with the Disability Service on . Referrals to Learning Support are made through the Disability Office.

Geraldine can help with;
- Reviewing educational needs assessment
- Meeting with students and support their learning
- Providing study skills provision, exam preparation and strategies
- Running workshops for students with a disability
- Providing group study support skills.
Assistive technology does what it says on the tin! It’s there to assist you so drop in and find out what tools are at your disposal through IT Tallaght’s Disability Office. There are regular workshops held that will calm the nerves and help you design a personalised study programme that can help you manage general study as well as assignments and the exams.
We are here to help students registered with the Disability Office who learn differently and want to match your strengths and abilities to the study practices that work best for you to maximise your time here. Check your emails regularly for updates on upcoming workshops and timetables.
