Head of School of Engineering – Permanent Wholetime Post

The post is being filled on a Permanent basis.    Candidates are required to have a relevant honours primary degree plus a minimum of five years post qualification experience combining  appropriate academic and  industrial experience.      A relevant postgraduate qualification is desirable.

This is a management position. Electrical Technician – Contract Post
Closing Date –  12:00 on 13th April 2018

As the Department of Electronic Engineering is currently engaged in recommencing the Electrical Apprenticeship Programmes at both Level 6 and Level 7, the primary role of the successful candidate will be to support these Programmes.  A significant amount of the Electrical Apprenticeship class and laboratory sessions are based in the Technical Development Centre close to the Institute in Whitestown Industrial Estate, though it is hoped that in future years we can move  these facilities onto the main campus


  • Applicants should hold the relevant Senior Trades or equivalent or National Craft Certificate, or a Level 8 Honours Bachelor Degree in Electronic/Electrical Engineering or equivalent, and at least one-year postgraduate experience  (e.g. relevant experience of working in workshops and/or in industry or on site)

Science Technician 
Contract Post for up to two  years
Closing Date – 12:00 on 13th April 2018

The School of Sciences is seeking to appoint a  Chemistry Technician on a  2 year contract basis to back fill for an existing staff member  who has taken on a new role.
Technical support is required to service undergraduate teaching laboratories and also to provide instrumentation support in analytical and spectroscopic chemistry. 

Access Officer – Contract Post to 31st August 2020
Closing date – 17:00 on 6th April 2018

Arising from the secondment of the substantive post holder , applications are invited for an Access Officer within IT Tallaght for at least 24 months to 31st August 2020.  The possibility exists that it may be extended beyond that date for a further period.

Reporting to:      Academic Administration and Student Affairs Manager

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A honours Primary Degree (NFQ level 8 ) – with a 2.ii honours classification or higher
  • Two years relevant post-graduate experience

Desirable Experience

  • High quality organization, communication and interpersonal skills
  • A detailed understanding of second and third level Education systems including specific initiatives in operation to support the widening of access to higher education.
  • Demonstrated  commitment to recruit and support non-standard students
