Introduction to Employment Law (60%) Contracts of service and contracts for services. Terms of employment contracts. Part-time and fixed-term worker protection. Equality. Annual, maternity, carers’, parental and adoptive leave. Health and Safety. Termination: wrongful dismissal, unfair dismissal, redundancy, minimum notice. Company Law (30%) Limited and unlimited, public and private companies. Promoter’s duties. Corporate personality and piercing the veil of incorporation. Memorandum and Articles of Association and alteration. Contractual capacity. Registration procedure. Registered office. Statutory registers. Legal requirements regarding accounts. Contents of director’s and auditor’s report. Auditor’s role and liability. Director of Corporate Enforcement. Introduction to Partnership Law (10%) Definition, formation and types of partnerships. Partnership agreement. Retirement of partners. Dissolution of partnerships. Relations of partnerships and third parties. Relationship between partners.
