Advanced Entry

Advanced Entry is where an applicant has previous work experience and/or educational achievements that are considered directly relevant to the programme they wish to apply for. In such a case, it is possible to gain entry to the second or subsequent year of an undergraduate programme in IT Tallaght.

What happens after I have completed the application process?
The Head of Department will assess all applicants. Once a decision is made, you will be notified by email via the CAO. Applicants who are repeating examinations in August will be notified after you submit your repeat examination results to your CAO application.

What is the closing date for applications?

Applications for Advanced entry will close 30th June.

When are offers made?
Offers for Advanced Entry are generally made during June and July provided the applicant has submitted all the required documentation on or before the 20th June. If the required documentation has not been submitted, for example examination results are pending, offers will be made in September. Please be aware that some courses require a Merit or better to gain entry to the Advanced Entry programme, it is important that you familiarize yourself with the entry requirements of the programme you are applying to transfer into.

What happens after I accept my offer?
On receipt of your acceptance, the Registrar’s Office will issue registration documentation to you. This will contain a registration form and important fee information. This registration form must be completed and returned to the Registrar’s Office by the due date.

When do I become officially registered?
On receipt of a signed registration form, the staff in the Registrar’s Office will officially register you for the academic year if your fees have been paid in full. If you return your registration form without payment you will be temporary registered only. If you are in receipt of a grant, you will be fully registered when we receive official notification from the Awarding Body confirming this.

I have never studied in IT Tallaght before so how do I get my student card?
Arrangements are made by the staff in the Registrar’s Office, room 120, to take photos and issue new students with ID cards. It is important that you avail of this facility on the dates indicated on the noticeboards throughout the Institute.
