The Accountancy and Professional Studies Department is the largest in the Institute and caters for a broad range of courses. The target audience for many of our programmes are people who wish to obtain or augment their accounting and finance knowledge so as to improve their promotional prospects in their current job or to change direction in their career or indeed to proceed to become qualified accountants or tax specialists.

Our partnership with University College Cork's Adult Education Centre, will this Autumn see the Institute offer UCC Masters and Higher Diploma courses in Human Resource Management and Learning Development. These courses now provide Tallaght and the South Dublin region with a dedicated centre of advanced study in Human Resource Management, training and organisation development for those who wish to further develop their skills in these disciplines, catering for emerging pratitioner to expert level.

ITT Dublin delivers programmes which place a strong emphasis on developing accounting, financial and management skills and competencies required of today’s business professionals.

With the four years honours degree in Business & Accounting from ITT Dublin, the graduate will be well equipped to choose from a number of careers options. Potential employers range from professional accountancy practices, industry, financial services, banking, insurance, second level teaching and the public service, both in Ireland and overseas. Graduates pursuing accounting or taxation careers may be granted substantial exemptions from the examinations of a number of professional bodies.

In addition students obtain very valuable business experience. Graduates regularly choose to continue their studies to master’s level at Smurfit Business School UCD / DCU/ DIT/ NUI Maynooth and find that their four years in the ITT Dublin has prepared them very well for their career ahead. Graduates of this course are also qualified to apply for teaching at second level.

The last four programs listed below provides to the graduate the required knowledge and skill level in specialised areas such as Auctioneering and Estate Agency, Personnel Practice, Employment Relations Law and Productions & Inventory Management. ITT Dublin operates a semesterised system for examinations and a significant level of the final grade is assessed through continuous assessments. This offers much greater flexibility for the student.
