Higher Certificate - Sterile Services Technology

About the Course

This programme was developed after extensive consultation with the hospital and related sectors and is aimed primarily at sterile services practitioners. Its aim is to produce qualified and knowledgeable sterile service practitioners in a range of scientific, technological and quality activities in the hospital and related sectors. This programme will run over four college semesters (24 months) part-time. Candidates are required to take all modules on offer in each semester.

Entry Level

Grade D3 in a minimum of five subjects in the Leaving Certificate examinations, (this must include Maths and English/Irish) or a FETAC Level 5 qualification or equivalent. Mature students are also eligible. Eligible candidates may be interviewed. Candidates must be working in a sterile services area of a hospital for the duration of the programme. All applicants must have competence in spoken and written English.

Career Opportunities

This programme is primarily designed to provide career-focused education and training for those working in the sterile services centres of hospitals. These individuals would be responsible for the day-to-day operation of sterile services within a busy hospital environment.

Fees & Funding

Academic Year 1 €3250 (Inclusive of ITT Dublin registration fee and examination fee).  If completing individual modules/ groups of modules the individual module fee is €350 plus the ITT Dublin registration fee of €30 and an examination fee of €15 per module examination (up to a maximum of €70 per academic year).
