About the Course

We are currently living in an information age where businesses rely on timely and quality information for their survival. All businesses, whether their information technology is maintained on-site or outsourced need people with knowledge of IT on their staff. Our vision for this programme is to develop people with strong technical knowledge in IT allied to an understanding of the strategic needs of businesses.

This programme provides you with the skills and knowledge to manage Information Technology infrastructure in a business. In the modern world nearly every business is dependent on its use of information technology for its survival. Whether its sending texts or downloading music, banking or health systems, business or industry all these organisations and activities need information technology professionals to manage, plan and upgrade their IT systems.

Entry Level

This is a level 8 award on the National Framework of Qualifications. The entry requirement for such a programme is a Level 7 award or equivalent. Candidates for this programme would be expected to hold a Bachelor of Science/ National Diploma in Information Technology Management/ Computing or a related area.

Career Opportunities

The range of careers open to your include database manager, web developer, e-business consultant, network manager, systems support engineer. The role of chief information officer (CIO), IT manager or business consultant is a substantial, interesting and rewarding one in most businesses and these are the career paths which this programme opens for you. It is important to note that IT professionals often work as part of a team, make presentations and are called on to give advice on new and emerging technologies.

Of course a degree in information technology is also good general education and those graduates who have chosen other careers (Garda, teacher, business) generally find that their analysis and problem solving skills allied to their knowledge of IT is a real advantage in whatever career path they follow. Over the course of this programme you will obtain an excellent knowledge of information systems, networking, web and multimedia development as well as business and management knowledge. This combination of real technical knowledge allied to business and management skills is highly sought after in the marketplace.

Fees & Funding

€3650 (Inclusive of ITT Dublin registration fee and examination fee).  If completing individual modules/ groups of modules the individual module fee is €300 plus the ITT Dublin registration fee of €30 and an examination fee of €15 per module examination (up to a maximum of €70 per academic year).
