TA 007 - Higher Certificate in Tourism Hospitality Studies
About the Course
The course Develops craft & supervisory skills for the hospitality industry
On completion of the programme, learners will have the competence to work in a multi-functional capacity in positions of responsibility in a wide variety of operational roles within the tourism and hospitality industry. Learners may also choose to specialise in a particular area. Learners may progress to supervisory/management levels through accessing and participating in higher level programmes.
What do I Need?
Entry Requirements
•At least Grade D3 (ordinary level) in five subjects in the Leaving Certficiate. The subjects must include either English or Irish.
Further Study
Once qualified, you can specialise in a particular area-such as restaurant, bar, accommodation services or reception-and follow the relevant Advanced National Certificate course. You are also eligible to follow the Advanced Certificate in Supervisory Development.
Career Opportunities
On completion you will be qualified to work in a variety of operational roles in an International Hospitality Industry.
Alternatively, you may decide to specialise in particular area. Some graduates, for example, continue into hotel management training. You can find employment in medium sized hotels, guesthouses, pubs, catering businesses, leisure and activity centres, cruise liners and tourist attractions.
