About the Course

The European Studies Honours Bachelor of Arts Degree offers students an exciting and interesting range of modules which provide them with an understanding and appreciation of modern Europe and with the necessary skills to work in a wide variety of national, international and multinational organizations in Ireland and elsewhere in Europe. Specialising in one European language (French, German or Spanish), the course provides students with an indepth understanding of aspects of European history, politics, culture and business.

european_studies An important aspect of this course is the fact that the third year is spent on work placement or at one of our partner universities in either Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Poland or Spain, where students can improve their language skills and absorb the local academic and cultural atmosphere. This popular
and exciting Honours Degree programme prepares students for future employment in a wide variety of national and international companies, government and public sector, political organizations, marketing, media, PR and
banking. Many of our graduates go on to further study at universities both in Ireland and elsewhere in Europe.

What do I Need?

european_studies_a Entry Requirements, Honours Bachelor Degree – European Studies
At least Grade C3 in two higher level papers and Grade D3 in four ordinary level papers in the Leaving Cert. The subjects must include either Irish or English.
No prior knowledge of a foreign language is required.

karen_white Karen White -  is a past graduate of the BA (Hons) in European Studies at ITT Dublin. Having successfully completed her four year degree she completed an MSc in European Economics and Public Affairs at University College Dublin. Upon graduation she spent a number of weeks on work experience with a TD in Leinster House, while researching part time for an EU law barrister. She currently works as Head of Research for the Irish Alliance for Europe.

niall_judge Niall Judge -  is a graduate of the inaugural 2006 class of Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in European Studies, and took German while at ITT Dublin. Having completed his degree he spent a year in Canada to build on his international experience and French language skills, and also volunteered in the Canadian International Council during his time there. Upon his return to Europe, he successfully completed a Master of European Studies (Political Science, Law & Economics) at the Centre for European Integration Studies, University of Bonn, Germany. He is currently completing a stage in the European Commission in Brussels, working in Coreper I in the Secretariat General.
