Bioengineering Technology Centre
Vision:
"To provide excellent biomedical education and research, by applying engineering principles to medical problems, leading to innovative applications in clinical practice for the enhancement of human health and quality of life ."
This multidiciplinary team was formed in 2006 and attained Institute Research Centre status in 2007. The members have strong academic backgrounds and solid industrial experience, with expertise in the areas of Materials, Mechanics, FEA and CFD modelling, Bioengineering, Control and Sensors. The Centre has links with Medical Consultants from Galway, Clane, Blackrock, Crumlin and the Coombe hospitals, and from the Adelaide and Meath Hospital, Incorporating the National Children's Hospital (AMNCH).
Current research is mainly in the areas of Orthopaedics, Biomechanics, FEA and CFD analysis, Rapid Prototyping and Design.
