What does an Electronic Engineer do?
There are many career paths and opportunities open to the electronic engineering graduate with something to suit all personalities and aptitudes. The electronic engineer usually works as part of a team. The Electronic Engineering degree you receive from ITT Dublin will allow you work in a wide variety of fields.
Many of our graduates are employed in the following roles:
• Software Engineer
The micro chips inside our electronic devices need software programs to drive them.
The software engineer is responsible for:
• Understanding how computer systems work.
• Developing programs that drive computer controlled devices.

The telecommunications engineering is an expert in all forms of communications especially mobile phone communication.
The telecommunication engineer is responsible for:
• Designing efficient transmitter systems.
• Transmitting over large distances using radio, light or microwave signals.
• Transmitting data, audio, and video signals.
• Microelectronics Engineer
At the heart of every electronic device lies a silicon microchip. The microelectronics engineer is responsible for:
• The design of the electronic circuit
• Manufacturing the circuit on a silicon wafer
• Testing the microchip operation
• Computer Network Engineer
Information transfer is critical and commercial buildings and public venues are now wired up with many types of networks responsible for communications, lifts, air-conditioning, cctv , energy monitoring, fire alarms. Getting these networks to talk to each other is the job of the electronic engineer. Network engineers are responsible for:
• Designing computer networks
• Constructing and connecting networks
• Programming networks and computer systems.
Hardware is the microchips and electronic components connected together on an electronic circuit board. The hardware engineer is responsible for:
• Creating and designing the layout of electronic circuits.
• Planning and designing control systems to drive automated manufacturing process..
